How lucky! The museums stay open until 10 pm on Thursday and after 6 pm they're free! I think I mentioned Museum Island before. It's an island because it's in the Spree river. There are 5 museums on the island and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
I could go on and on about this (image what went on in recent history - the war, the wall etc) but let's just look at some of the buildings.

This is the Alte National Gallery where we visited the really old stuff, like Egyptian stuff. One of the most famous is the bust of Queen Nefertiti.

This is the Altes Museum (Old Museum) . Yep, more old stuff but more recent. This museum can be seen from the street and has red neon letters (behind the pillars) that state "all art was contemporary once"
This had Monet & his contemporaries housed here.

We also visited the Pergamon built for the Pergamon Altar, didn't know anything about it until I visited it. BUT I was more impressed with the Gate of Ishtar - I should have taken a pic of it. But we don't typically take pics in museums.

The Wall... throughout the city there are markers in the street like this one, marking where the wall was. It's amazing

Then you can follow the double row of bricks in the street to see where it goes....

This is one of the few real, unmoved sections of the wall. This is part of the Topography of Terror display.
There are more parts of the wall still standing that now have artwork on it. We weren't able to visit that.
