Took the (city) bus to the airport
Delayed leaving Berlin because the weather was so bad in Copenhagen. Then we arrived in Copenhagen and experience the bad weather first-hand - eek.
Driving rain and wind. But we pressed on to the city center to take in the Ny Carlsberg Glytotek Museum. (Ny Carlsberg Glytotek is an art museum in Copenhagen. We were mostly interested in the Impressionists and more modern stuff: Rodin, Monet, Manet, Renoir, Degas, Cezanne. It's mainly known for it sculptures)
The 12 min walk to our hotel (to pick up the rest of our luggage) completed drenched us! Luckily a cab was dropping people off at our (small) hotel and we were able to take it to the port instead of our plan 20 min walk.
Checked in and boarded the ship. No luggage yet so we dropped our dripping packs & coats and had some pizza.
It was great to be on the ship for so many reasons.
I've included more pics of Berlin because I wasn't able to post nearly enough.
Siegessaule (Victory Column) near the Tiergarten. This was used to celebrate the military successes of Prussia over Denmark. It use to be in front of the Reichstag but the nazis moved it to where it lives now.
Riechstag dome, what an amazing concept. That anyone can queue up and get a free audio guide and walk around this dome above the Bundestag (German parliament) . We could actually see people sitting in parliament. The dome has an open top but the funnel you see, catches the rain & snow. We also had amazing view from up here, all around the city. The Wall was right next to this.
In the dome at the Riechstag, this is where the rain & snow gets caught.
The Quadriga on top of the Brandenburg Gate; the goddess Victoria in her chariot pulled by four horses. This is very need the Riechstag but was behind The Wall.
A view of the Brandenburg Gate from the Berliner Dom. Once upon a time I think traffic use to go under the Gate, but now it's a pedestrian plaza - with lots of people all over the place. When we were there, so guy dressed in a Soviet uniform was stamping peoples passports.
