Friday 5/27 Yellowstone again

We were up early and visited Midway Geyser Basin, Biscuit Basin and Black Sand Basin.  It was a cool humid morning so there was lots of steam from the thermal activity.  It was beautiful and eery at the same time.

Because it had been raining this morning, there weren't very many people at the geyser basins with us.  it was great being out on a cloudy (Puget Sound like day) exploring the geysers with few people around.  Yes it does look like the earth is on fire or something, but that's Yellowstone for you.  FYI  There is lots of bison poop next to there thermals.  I don't know how they can walk around these.

I got to see my fav pool named Morning Glory.  Oh look, that's me.

Then we did a boardwalk walk around Old Faithful and got pretty wet as it stormed with rain and hail.  We happened on Grand Geyser which was erupting when we got there.  Then it erupted 2 more times.  The geyser watchers cheered they were so thrilled with this occurrence.  I cheered too.

On our way to the east side of the park to leave we spotted a mom & baby elk.  We did not cause a traffic jam taking this picture cuz the stoopid people in front of us did that.

Next was  Lake Yellowstone Lodge.  First we had to locate the charging port which we found down the road labeled "employees only".

The Lake Yellowstone Lodge is like stepping back in history.  It is beautiful and on the historic registry.  Lake Yellowstone is huge!  and still has lots of ice on it.  This area of the park just opened May 13th.

Then we're off the Cody.  We stopped at Buffalo Bill Dam, originally named Shoshone Dam.  Completed in 1910 is the 1st arch dam in the world.  An additional 25 ft was added to the top.  Snow in Yellowstone become water here.

Fitbit stats:  29,731 steps  13 miles    14 flights climbed
