Rainy day and very foggy. We had a circuitous mountain journey on a bus.

We arrived at the Mt. Fuji Heritage Center. What do you know, no Fuji. Good thing we saw it yesterday. They tell us she is a shy mountain.
We did see an informative movie about it and some volcanic information in the center. People hike up it but only in July & August.

On our way to Matsumoto we visited the Chihiro Arts Center. Tom was disappointed he thought it was churros. All joking aside Iwasaki Chihiro's art museum and park is dedicated to peace, specifically anti-war. There were some pictures that definitely invoked emotions in me. The descriptions were mostly in Japanese so we couldn’t understand much.
Then we arrived in Matsumoto. Our hotel was a small traditional Japanese hotel.
Matsumoto is a lovely city of about 30,000 people. A nice break from Tokyo. We walked to the shopping center for a bite to eat and snacks. And just to see a grocery store. It was really fun to watch the queue grow while we figured out how to work the self-serve checkout. It helps to press the “English” button.
Our tour guide told us to look at the castle at night if we could and we did. Take a look. It is also known as the Black Crow.
FYI they eat horse meat here.
