Tues, May 6 Sapporo, Japan

Today was a slower day. We had breakfast at 8 am. I have to say the breakfast at our hotel is quite large. The yogurt is really good. We’ve tried a few unique things but I’m not eating octopus or eel for breakfast.

We started at the Botanic Garden Hokkaido University which was just a few blocks from our hotel. We walked past the former Hokkaido Government Office building (red brick bldg).

We had lunch at a bakery and had to sample a donut to compare to Mister Donut. We made our way to the Sapporo TV Tower where we had a great view of the city including Oduri Park.  The TV Tower was built in 1958 and is 483 ft. Look for the Tower in Godzilla movies.

We passed the Clock Tower, a western style building.  It is the oldest clock tower in Japan, built in 1878.

We found a Costco on our way in from the airport. However it would take 2 trains and about 55 minutes each way to reach it. We passed.
